Chef Johannes Bacher Provides more than Delicious Food to the Community

When Johannes Bacher, executive chef and owner of Johannes Restaurant in Palm Springs, decided he wanted to donate to a few charities that he has supported for many years, he spoke with Debbie Chapman, director of development – special events at Desert AIDS Project (DAP). She recommended providing lunch to DAP’s COVID-19 Triage Team.

Inspired, Bacher decided to surprise the team with a $40 Johannes gift certificate so each of the 10 staff members could treat themselves to curbside takeout at their convenience. “It’s the right thing to do during these difficult and uncharted times,” Bacher says.

A long-time DAP supporter, contributing to Dining Out for Life, the Steve Chase Humanitarian Awards and other events the organization sponsors, Bacher then met with Dr. David Morris, chief medical officer; Kimmie Miller, LVN charge nurse, and David Lee, RN clinical services to present the certificates.
